3 Day Live Workshop
with Ryan Gardner
Friday - Sunday
October 2 - October 4, 2020, 10:00 am - 5:00 pm daily
In this workshop Ryan will show students various ways of manipulating already cut stones. Throughout the workshop Ryan will give demonstrations on how to drill holes in stones, carve patterns into stone and polish the carving, how to put gold leaf into the carvings, carve and polish grooves and inside curves and more! All this will be done with the flex shaft, no large lapidary equipment required. Students will also be shown how to make their own bezel wire, and construct bezels for various off shaped and faceted stones. Ryan will have stones available for students to use and practice with, however students are welcome to and even encouraged to bring stones they are not sure what to do with or want to change.
Ryan will have a variety of diamond bits and powders for students to use and some available for purchase. Students should bring their basic tools used for fabrication, saw frame, pliers, tweezers...etc.
More info about Ryan Gardner
Participation in the arts was always important to me growing up. A strong arts program in high school influenced my decision to pursue a degree int he arts. I chose the arts program at Bowling Green State University in northwest Ohio where I discovered and fell in love with metals. I was introduced to many artists, including Michael Boyd, who became an inspiration for me.
Since being in Colorado I have started my own business, Ryan Gardner Designs. I now showcase my work in galleries across the country. I love working with combing stone and metal in new ways creating works of art for people to enjoy in their daily lives.
