Class Description: 

This hands-on course introduces students to the fundamentals of metalworking while incorporating found objects into brooch design. Through a combination of technical exercises and creative exploration, students will develop foundational skills in metal fabrication, texturing, soldering, and riveting. By the end of the course, participants will have completed a series of small technical assignments leading up to a unique, layered brooch that integrates alternative materials.

 

Students will create:
Small technical assignments to build confidence and refine skills
A final brooch incorporating riveting, soldering, and a found object

Teaching Approach:
Classes will begin with demonstrations, followed by hands-on practice with technical exercises. Students will have structured guidance while also being encouraged to experiment and work independently. The instructor provides support, feedback, and troubleshooting as students
refine their techniques.

This weekly class meets IN-PERSON at the Metal Arts Guild of Georgia. Please plan to arrive no earlier than 15 minutes prior to class.
