Class Description:
Experience the magic of sand casting! This versatile technique allows metalsmiths to create unique pieces with efficiency and precision, using a variety of materials! This hands-on class covers the fundamentals of sand casting, from mold preparation to venting, melting the metal, and metal flow.
Students will complete a series of sample casts, with their chosen metal (bronze or aluminum will be provided, students can bring their own silver if they wish). Each sample cast will teach students a different technique to build confidence and deepen their understanding of how metal flows and behaves within a mold.
