Class Description:
Building upon the skills that students have previously learned, this class will focus on further developing and improving those skills. This is a multi-level class, requiring a basic knowledge of soldering.
While working toward honing soldering and finishing
skills, students will be introduced to a variety of stone setting applications. Some of the stone setting techniques that will be covered are tube setting, flush setting, simple prong setting and bezels. We will also delve into step bezels and tab setting as time
allows.
This is a fast paced, skills based class. Students are encouraged to design and create pieces of their choice. Demonstrations will be be tailored to the student’s needs at the level that is appropriate for the class. Techniques and skills that may be covered, are: making rings, bracelets, earrings. We may explore simple mechanisms, metal forming, hollow forms and chains.
The instructor will focus on helping students advance their work through gentle critiques, hands on demonstrations and exchanges of ideas. We will work as a group, individually and as a whole to achieve each student’s goals.

This weekly class meets IN-PERSON at the Metal Arts Guild of Georgia. Please plan to arrive no earlier than 15 minutes prior to class.

Prerequisites: Students are reuired to have taken at least 1 beginning class at MAGG in the past 6 months or permission from the instructor.
